Youtube for Shoe-a-holics

While those of us still stuck in our clunky, winter boots are pining over wearing our never-worn, hot heels, Massachusetts-based Shoetube, launched about two weeks ago to facilitate our need for for foot fashion.

It's goal is to use their online videos, blogs and forums to connect shoe lovers around the globe. They are planning to launch their boutiques throughout the year through partnerships with major shoe brands and retailers. (No note on if they will ship north of the border.)

They also have a "Soles 4 Souls" blog where people can post charities where you can donate shoes for good causes. (Every good sole needs a new life.)

I'm off to try on my unworn Betsy Johnson's I bought in January... oh, winter, why have you denied our feet for so long?

Blame it on Diesel

Diesel recently launched a viral video for the Diesel Freezy Sneakers using footage of Aarlf Smaks from the 70's giving a disco dance lesson. Boogie on.

Shoes Outta A Science Fiction Magazine.

Marc Jacobs recently showed his Spring/Summer 2008 collection in New York, premiering his back-to-front heeled shoe, which many are claiming as the first ever. (See top right image.)

However, after a little investigating, I found that they are not quite as original as one may think.

I found a copy of the cover of issue of Galaxy Science Fiction from January 1955. (See image at left.)

Then I found images from Japanese designer, Junko Shimada collection for Fall/Winter 2007. (See bottom right image.)

Not quite as original as you thought.

It's always interesting to see designers doing something a little different from the norm. It makes us step back and look at how we see things, but let's try and keep it original.
