Meet Dean & Dan

Canada's favourite fashionable twins Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED2 will be at the Bloor Street Holts on Monday, September 8 from 1 - 2:30pm for a meet and greet. They're promoting their Fall-Winter 2008/2009 Men's and Women's Ready-to-Wear, Fragrance and Shoe collections.

The twins are also throwing a fashion show and party in the CityTV parking lot during the Toronto International Film Festival - good luck getting an invite to that one!

Sparks Fly to NYC

I love it when people I know get the success and the recognition they deserve. One such person is menswear designer Philip Sparks, who launched his menswear line at Boutique Le Trou back for Fall/Winter 2007. At the time I was a model agent at B&M Models and helped him secure a stellar line up of male models - most of whom even helped him set up and and strike after the show! Then he was approached by Town Shoes to produce his own line of mens shoes for Spring 2008. Sparks is off to New York Fashion Week to show in GenArt. He was even mentioned in Fashionista today!

TFI Rocks!

I've been meaning to post this fantastic video on the Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI) for a while now. It was shown before the last TFI New Labels Show in April.

Happy Birthday Madonna!

I've always been a mega Madonna fan. I won't even get into all the things I've collected over the years - magazine covers, CD singles, books (I have two copies of SEX - one in French, the other in English) and even a strange troll doll dressed up like Madonna from her Blonde Ambition tour. Each shocking thing she did made my mum cringe. I'd be dancing around the house when I was about 8 singing "Like a Virgin" and my mum would freak out telling me, "you cannae sing that!" I didn't understand why, but I knew there was something about this girl that made me want to know more.

Today is also the day Elvis died - Madonna was 18 that day, and this year Michael Jackson and Prince also turn 50. (Coincidence? I think not...)

A Change Will Be A Long Time Coming

The much hyped all-black July issue of Italian Vogue flew off shelves. 10,000 additional copies were printed, then the August issue came out with an editorial as a tribute to Yves Saint Laurent using all white models with this image:
